Don Beyer won the annual St. Patrick’s Day straw poll tonight, garnering 35 percent of the vote in a 12-way competition. "With such fine progressive Democrats running I am humbled by this show of support from so many of my Democratic friends,” Beyer said. “Of course, the only vote that matters is the one on June 10th."
Don Beyer today called for closing the health care “coverage gap” in Virginia by expanding Medicaid coverage to hundreds of thousands of uninsured Virginians through a federal/state partnership. He pledged that as a member of Congress he would demand that the federal government uphold its end of the bargain, and referenced an earlier cooperative effort – one that brought health care to thousands of Virginia children -- as a model for reaching agreement on the current proposal.
Flanked by local and national environmental leaders, former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer today announced his support for a progressive carbon tax in order to fight climate change, spur green energy, and heighten consumer consciousness on this critical issue.
This Saturday, March 15, at 11 am, please join former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 8th congressional district in Northern Virginia, for a Potomac River-side conversation about environmental issues.
