Citizens of Falls Church should be proud that they have a proven and qualified statesman of the global stature of Don Beyer as one of their own. Once again, we proudly endorse Donald S. Beyer Jr. as Falls Church’s “Favorite Son” as the most qualified in his current bid to win the Democratic nomination to serve as Rep. Jim Moran’s successor in the U.S. Congress.
Former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer raised over $668,000 in the first quarter of 2014, for his congressional campaign in Virginia’s 8th district. Since January 19th, when a neighbor walked to the Beyer’s Alexandria home with a check, until the March 31 deadline, the campaign for Virginia’s 8th congressional district received a total of 922 contributions.
Former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer joined the chorus of voices applauding President Obama for his actions today – National Equal Pay Day -- toward equal pay for equal work. Obama signed a memorandum as the first step in requiring federal contractors to report data on employee wages including sex and race, and he also signed an executive order prohibiting retaliation against workers who disclose pay, since that is one way workers might discover pay violations or inequities.
Former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer today called on voters to renew their push against gun violence, touting numerous commonsense solutions that he vowed to act upon if elected to Congress in November. “Gun violence is a major issue right here in our neighborhoods, as well as throughout Virginia and the nation,” Beyer said. “We need to take a comprehensive approach and stand up to the political bullying of the NRA.”
