SCORE PREVIEW—BEYER PICKS UP ENDORSEMENT IN VA-08: The Council for a Livable World’s PeacePAC, a group that supports the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, is throwing its support behind former Virginia Lt. Gov. Don Beyer in the crowded 8th district Democratic primary. Beyer is one of many Democrats vying to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Jim Moran, who was also endorsed by PeacePAC.
And despite the roster of contenders, University of Virginia Center for Politics analyst Geoff Skelly says the former lieutenant governor has a slight advantage over the other eight candidates because he won two statewide races back in the 1990s.

Not only did he serve two terms as lieutenant governor, but he also owns a car dealership that gives him a kind of familiarity that most politicians don't have. Although he successfully won two statewide elections, Beyer hasn't been on the ballot since he lost the race for governor to Republican Jim Gilmore in 1997.
