U.S. Representative Don Beyer, Northern Virginia Democrat and member of the House Committees on Natural Resources and Science, Space, and Technology, released the following statement today in response to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler’s net neutrality proposal.
"Equal pay for equal work is the easiest and most important way to ensure the strength of our families, our middle class, and our economy." - U.S. Representative, Donald S. Beyer, Jr.
As you know, paid parental leave was a priority during my campaign. I have long thought that the federal government needs to take the lead in providing family friendly working environments for new parents. We shouldn’t be forcing parents to choose between their job and a newborn, especially when federal workforce recruitment is so critical.
Growing up, I was taught that we are each put on this Earth to build something larger than ourselves and to serve others. Over the last ten months, I have had the incredible opportunity to fight for the chance to serve you as your representative in Congress. I know you've had dozens (if not hundreds!) of phone calls, emails, and door knocks, from me, my staff, and our amazing volunteers. I thank you for taking the time to listen, read, and respond. We've been reaching out to you about today's election for three reasons.
